These professional development materials are designed to assist training facilitators as they prepare volunteers and other instructors to use the Learning for Life Curriculum. The materials’ main purpose is to present strategies, activities, and tools that trainers can use to instruct teachers in understanding and practicing the features of this EL/CE Curriculum. By participating in the training, teachers can improve their delivery of instruction and enhance their students’ success with the curriculum.
A second purpose is to demonstrate the LFL model through the training itself. The training activities, in particular, are intended to mirror many of the techniques incorporated into the LFL Curriculum. As teachers work with professional developers in this training, they will experience a increasingly learner-centered, spiraling approach, with opportunities for collaboration, peer support, online resources, review of key concepts, and self-assessment.
To be most effective, trainers should use the training activities in conjunction with the facilitators’ notes, transparencies, handouts, and recommended supplementary materials. |
